REPORTS:
Chief’s Report:
Fabiano commented that they responded to 50 calls in August, including 25 medical calls, and 25 fire calls. 17 of the calls were for Eagle, and 23 were for Watertown.
2. The Chief would like to request a thank you letter to Eagle Township for presenting
LGRFA with a township flag.
3. Fabiano stated that October 8-12 is fire prevention week and they will be visiting Wacousta Elementary all that week promoting fire safety. The open house will be held October 13 from 9 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
4. Fabiano provided an update on Engine 1 - The pumper went into Spartan Motor for its
annual maintenance and pump test. There were many things wrong with it (the pump, exhaust, etc), with repairs costing $3,000 – 4,000. The truck is 16 years old and if the truck is out of service, there is no back up vehicle. A new truck takes 8-12 months to get and the replacement cost is between $250,000 – 300,000. Clark states that they should see what the truck is worth. Morris will help with this and the Authority can send a report to the Townships.
5. New hire - Doug Carr needs more time to pass the accreditation test. Motion by Morris, seconded by Hazen to extend the hiring date for Doug Carr to December 31, 2007. Motion passed.
Chair’s Report
1. Financial Review-Clark states everything is right on track with where they should be, possibly $25,000.00 ahead for the year.
2. Clark stated that they have to purchase health insurance in the next two months. He suggests that they roll over any extra health insurance risk money for future health insurance costs.
3. Clark stated that both Townships have approved LGRFA’s budget.
4. Traffic light - Hazen asked about the billing for the traffic light. Clark thinks that the Road Commission will bill the townships directly. Fabiano explained that the light blinks yellow on the bottom. When it is activated, it switches to solid yellow in the middle, then goes to red on top.
5. Clark stated that the he will mail out some suggestions to all of the members that have to do with the insurance company’s audit.
PUBLIC COMMENT-None
ADJOURNMENT: Motion by Adams, seconded by Hazen to adjourn the meeting. Motion passed. Meeting adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
