The Watertown Charter Township government relies on the work of many people serving on various Committees and in many Departments. Each of the township's departments and committees are listed below.

Responsibilities of the Township Administrator's Office
The Township Administrator works directly with the Supervisor and the Board of Trustees, and is responsible for the administration of all of the departments of the township. The Administrator's Office is also responsible for the following:
- Performs the duties of Township Personnel Director
- Prepare, present, and administer the annual budget as approved by the Board of Trustees
- Provide leadership to the township staff
- Attend meetings as directed by the Board of Trustees
- Process water and sewer permits
- Perform sewer and fire billings
- Collect escrow money for developments
Stormwater Management Information
Water and Sewer Permits
You need to fill out two applications for a water permit and one for a sewer permit. All three need to be turned into the Administrator's department. The water permit will cost $2,200.00 per residential r.e.u. and the sewer permit will cost $3,570.00 per residential r.e.u. due at the time you are dropping off the permit applications. Lansing Board of Water and Light charges their own fees for water installation on top of our $2,200.00 permit fee. They are also in charge of all water billings.

The Board of Review meets to review property assessments, hear assessment appeals, and make any needed corrections to the assessment roll. In addition, they may meet to be advised on assessments, assessment appeals and to sign documents, certificates, affidavits, etc. The Board is also responsible to hear local appeals on approvals and denials of homestead exemption issues.

The Clerk's Office is responsible for maintaining all official records of the Township including ordinances, resolutions, contracts and correspondence. As a voting member of the Board of Trustees, the Clerk also prepares and maintains Board minutes and agendas. The Clerk's Office is responsible for administering Elections, voter registrations, and maintaining the Michigan Qualified Voter File. Other responsibilities of the Clerk include acting as the Township's Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) coordinator, accounts payable, general accounting, and providing general information to Township residents.

Directions for using the tax calculator:
When you arrive at
the tax calculator you will find a button to select which tax period
you would like (summer or winter). You may also choose between
Homestead or Non-Homestead, this is the same thing as P.R.E.
(Principal Residence Exemption).
The second button lets you choose which school district you are in.
A school district must be selected for the calculator to work.
It has a default of St. Johns schools, sp please be sure to select
the correct one. Click on the school district map link below
if you are unsure of you school district.

After all of the figures are put into the calculator, you will be able to select the button that says Estimate Taxes. Please remember that this is an Estimate Only! This does not include any new millages that may have been passed which could change your tax bill(s).
